In 2016, we ran a pilot to provide 16 women with beehives and with great success. Each woman has been able to harvest honey from their hives. The honey is harvested by our beekeeping expert and the hives are being checked every 3 months for harvesting.
In 2019, we have spent time evaluating the impact of previous beekeeping programmes to ensure that future investments in beekeeping have the most significant impact possible. Currently, 300 women are now being trained in beekeeping and have apiary provided to them.
In just over 3 years, we have seen the amount of women taking part in this programme grow by over 280. We hope to keep seeing an increase in the amount of women that take part in our beekeeping programme and suspect that the success we have seen so far will continue to grow over the coming years.
